Lovedeluxe: Delicate Handmade Lingerie From the UK

Love Deluxe-7

What do you get when you merge the talents of two bridal designers who are used to making big-day dreams come true? You get Lovedeluxe, a magical and romantic lingerie line that celebrates moments big and small. Wendy Harman, a wedding dress designer, and Natasha Hutchison, a bridal accessories designer, have come together to create a small capsule collection of intimates where luxe materials and fine finishing techniques really shine.

Lovedeluxe's debut collection includes a gorgeous print with bold pops of orange, unusual for an independent brand where innovative use of color can be risky and cost prohibitive. The abstract floral print is used to provide contrasting texture and color on the cuffs on a silk robe and on the front of a mesh longline bra and panty. It is used to great effect on a classic camisole and a darling pair of flouncy French knickers. What a great way to add color and pattern to your winter lingerie wardrobe!

Speaking of camisoles, Lovedeluxe has created one out of fine, nearly transparent Chantilly lace. Simple construction details, including bust darts and a neckline edged with picot elastic, let the lace take center stage. How pretty is that scalloped edge? This is a great piece that easily transitions from the boudoir to outerwear since it's relaxed shape can be worn both with and without a bra.

The debut collection also includes some luscious ivory bias-cut silk pieces which have yet to be released. Fine finishing details include silk covered buttons, handmade roleaux loops, and some seriously swoon-worthy lace trim. Those high-waisted shorts and cropped cami look especially promising.

Lovedeluxe uses simple silhouettes, common for young independent brands who are just starting out. Because there is minimal shaping and coverage, this brand seems especially well suited for smaller busts who remain an underserved market (in fact, I was pleased to see the use of a petite model for the brand's lookbook). Bras are available in 32-38 bands and are recommended for A-DD cups (they are not sized by cup). The longline 'Lou' bra may be a good fit for the larger end of this spectrum, but the dainty 'Bardot' lace bra would work best for the lower end. While the bra range may be a bit limiting, the bottoms and loungewear pieces actually accommodate quite a large size range. These pieces fit UK sizes 6-20 (or hips 34"-49").

Pieces are handmade to order, so please allow several weeks before they are dispatched. Prices start around $75 for knickers, $90 for bralettes, $140 for camisoles, and $400+ for robes. Many pieces are available to order as sets, just in time for the holidays!
