Who is The Lingerie Addict? Today, I'll Tell You.

Today's announcement is the result of a long and thoughtful process for me. When I first started blogging, it was a hobby. I liked stockings and lingerie, and wanted to write about them without revealing myself. And so I created Treacle as a way to hide my identity.

Some of you know that I used to work as a crisis counselor, so the sensitive nature of my job made me go to extreme lengths to hide my blog from my co-workers and even from my family. I was worried people wouldn't take me seriously if they knew I was a lingerie blogger, or that they'd think there was something wrong about discussing lingerie online and in public. Like many of you, I've also heard the horror stories of digital bullies who've harassed or stalked bloggers (especially female bloggers), and I didn't want to be a victim.

But this last year has been huge one for me, both personally and professionally. Because of you, The Lingerie Addict is not only my fulltime job (and a true dream job), it's also the#1 lingerie blog in the world. I'm engaged to an amazing man who could not be more supportive,  and my parents, though they don't quite understand what I do, are 100% behind me. My self confidence has grown tremendously, to the point where I feel it is only right to introduce myself to you properly.

My name is Cora Harrington and I'm the founder of The Lingerie Addict. In a very real sense, my readers have made me feel like I don't have to view Cora and Treacle as separate people anymore. Instead, they're important parts of me that work together perfectly.

I'm sure you're wondering what this will mean for the blog and the honest answer is that nothing will change. I'll still post the same kind of content you know and love us for. All posts will still be made under the name Treacle rather than switching everything to Cora (I've been using Treacle for awhile and wouldn’t want to confuse any new visitors!). And if you see me out and about and call me Treacle, I'll still answer. After all, it's not often one gets to choose their name. ;-)

Being Treacle is a large part of my life and it's something I'm completely comfortable with, but the point is I don’t feel like I have to hide behind it anymore. A blog is only as great as the community around it, and I think TLA has one of the best.

If you're new to the blog due to this announcement, I want to personally thank you for visiting... it's great to see you! If you're searching for an easy place to start and get familiar with The Lingerie Addict, check out my most popular posts or sign up for the V.I.A. newsletter to get fun and exclusive content and discounts.

I stumbled across this blog a few months back and I love love love it. I can understand and completely empathize with the need you felt to keep a pseudonym – I work in an area where I, too, need to be cognizant of the possible implications my private life may have on my public one. I’m so, so happy for you that you’ve been able to make this your full time job. A dream job, indeed! I wish I would have thought of it sooner! You do an amazing job. Thank you!!

Sometimes wondered if you’d ever write this post.

I figured, while it might be fun to guess your name, if Treacle was what you called yourself, that’s all any of us needed to know. Not that I ever guessed ‘Cora’, simply because until now, I didn’t know I knew anyone named Cora ; )

By the way – I’d been off-line personally most of the day, so hadn’t yet gotten to TLA – someone told me to check out a new search tool, which re-directed me to Bing when I simply searched Images for ‘Lingerie’. The photo with this post pops up in the number 5 place of the entire web. Not shabby at all.

and I’m not sure why, but you do look a bit like the cat that’s gotten the canary : )

    Hey Cora,
Nice to “meet” the real you!

  20. Gaby says:

I completely understand about wanting to keep part of yourself private and protected from the online world, it can be a scary place sometimes. I always worry about sharing things that are ‘too personal’ (like pictures of myself) on the Hopeless Lingerie page, but my business is my life, so why should I hide?!

This is very inspiring to read, and I wish you every success in the world xoxoxoxoox

This is so cool Cora!!! I’m so happy & excited for you!

When I first stumbled onto your blog years ago, I thought…”Now why didn’t I think of that?!?”. You made me want to start a lingerie blog, and I had about two posts worth of information to share!!! Ha! I admired how you were blogging about something that you loved, and you did so only as Treacle could do it. ;)

As a blogger, I completely understand the hesitation in blogging under your real name. I made the tough decision myself to “come out” on my blog’s about page (I may borrow your idea & do a formal post). It just makes sense & feels right when your blog becomes so much more than a hobby. The icing on the cake is the support from your loved ones, and readers. The candle on top is being able to earn a living from your dream job that takes dedication, love, and some serious effort!

    You continue to inspire me!
Congrats & keep up the awesome work!!!

  22. HI Cora – Yay for finding your balance, your truth, and feeling like you could share with us. Thank you for all that you do.

    Hi Treacle (Cora)
You have finally ‘come out’ so to speak. I’m a pro photographer and I’m also a lover of lingerie and I have the pleasure of mixing the two quite often. I have also enjoyed and will continue to enjoy your blogs on lingerie. Keep up the good work and there’s nothing better than having a passion for something and also being able to make it career. I have enjoyed my passion for 30+ years now and still have the same passion and enjoyment from working as a phtoographer every day.
    Kind regards
