Lille Boutique Lingerie Lookbook Spring/Summer 2013

Every few months, I look forward to a new Lille Boutique lookbook, and this Spring/Summer season is no different. Titled “Summer in the City,” this season’s lookbook was shot on location in Portland for Lille by Lisa Warninger, styled by Sarah Wizemann (the owner/founder of Lille Boutique), modeled by Clarke Flowers, and with hair and make-up by Randi Whipple. I love that Lille Boutique is one of the few stores/brands who is unafraid of using a dark-skinned, short-haired model of color and I completely adore the styling of this season’s offerings. Parisa Fe ‘Geneva’ Bra in Tuxedo

The Lingerie of the Week picks have been a bit aspirational lately, so I thought it was time to bring things back down to earth with a more budget-friendly selection. Parisa (and it’s plus size line Parisa Fe) is a brand I encountered almost a year at Curve’s August 2012 show. A subsidiary of AFR Apparel, the company behind Parisa Fe used to specialize in making private label bras for other retailers and brands before deciding to sell under their own name. So far, they’ve been very successful, appearing in a variety of stores from Nordstrom to Hips and Curves.

I really like their ‘Geneva’ bra, shown above. It can be hard to find stylish bras at a lower price point, but I really think the Geneva manages to be fashion forward yet still affordable. It’s an underwire style with foam-lined cups and side boning for added support. The Parisa Fe Geneva is available in sizes 34C thru 38C and in sizes 32D thru 42G. The coordinating hipster panty is available in sizes Medium thru XXX Large. The bra retails for $42 and the panty for $22. While several online boutiques do carry Parisa Fe, the only one that stocks the full size range in this color is Bare Necessities.

New Lingerie Addict Video Series: “In the Lingerie Boutique”

Happy Monday, everyone! So far, 2013′s been all about new experiences for me, and the blog is no different. One of the things I really wanted to do more of this year is video. I always feel kind of awkward and goofy in videos, but I also a lot of people would rather watch something than read something, and so I want to make sure there’s info out there in whatever way you want to consume it.

With that in mind, I’m really excited to debut another brand new video series I’m collaborating on Bellefleur Lingerie. I visit Bellefleur all the time, and usually while I’m in the shop, I find myself “Oh wow, it would be really cool if I could share with my readers exactly what I’m seeing right now.” So I ran that little idea by Lindsey, the new owner of BelleFleur, and she was totally on-board. Every few weeks, we’ll be getting together and talking about a few new pieces we’re really liking, and hopefully bringing some of the experience of shopping in a lingerie boutique to you at home.

As with the 1 minute bra reviews, this is just a test of a concept. But if you like these (and I hope you do because they were a lot of fun), then we’ll definitely do more. In fact, I was just at Bellefleur over the weekend scoping out some pieces for the next video! ;-)

Salon International de la Lingerie: Favourites for Autumn/Winter 2013

Way back inn mid-January I was lucky enough to visit the Salon International de la Lingerie trade show in Paris. Here’s my  picks from the independent and luxury brands – we have some truly gorgeous lingerie to look forward to next season!

Dirty Pretty Things

I love Dirty Pretty Things’ use of unusual prints and this season is no different – quirky fairytale inspirations see unicorn, skull and butterfly motifs together in a print design that is both delightfully feminine and directionally subversive.  I also love how they’ve paired leopard print chiffon with lace – it gives the print a much softer and delicate feel to it and has definitely left me lusting after one those sets!

Elise Aucouturier

Elise Aucouturier is a brand that I had not encountered before but I’ve been very much taken with their unique design style and unusual use of lace and embroidery – the sheer shorts and lace bandeau bra shown below were my particular favourites!

Fred & Ginger

Fred & Ginger’s latest collection is based around a mix of luscious silks.  Particular highlights including ‘Romance’ with its opulent burgundy velvet trim and ‘Tropical Paradise’ – the bright yellows, pinks and blues are almost good enough to eat!

Juju Lingerie

Juju Lingerie are a new brand and I’m loving their use of bright green and pink alongside the cute and flirty embroidery details and prints.  I’m very intrigued to see how this brand will develop!

Kiss Me Deadly

Kiss Me Deadly are a tried and tested favourite of mine. Next season will see new prints in girdles, a range of gorgeous new corsets and (what I’m personally most excited about) some incredibly swishy chiffon tap pants. I’ve also heard rumours of an overwire bra which I absolutely cannot WAIT to get my hands on…

Lost In Wonderland

Lost In Wonderland are a Berlin based brand that creates luxurious yet ethical, Vegan lingerie. I’m fallen head over heels in love with the new collection; the combination of stunningly beautiful chantilly laces (in my favourite colourway, black and gold), unusual lace placement and silhouette mean that this lingerie to die for. I’ve fallen dangerously in love with the first set (shown below)!

Maud & Marjorie

Maud & Marjorie are a French brand that use lace to particularly stunning effect! I adore this unusual colour pairing of maroon with bright orange, but my personal favourite is the faux-leather soft bra – the stitch detail alongside the delicate lace is exquisite!

Playful Promises

Next season Playful Promises have a range of delicious new prints and styles, from a brand new body shape to a gorgeous set that incorporates gold metal chains as embellishment.  My personal favourite is the reinvention of the signature ‘Etti’ set in a stunning rose and peacock print!

Yes Master

Yes Master are renowned for their unusual prints and silhouettes and this season is no exception – just checkout the bra top and cycling shorts shown below!  A particular highlight of this collection is the use of leopard-printed sequins. This is definitely lingerie for a daring fashionista!
