Lingerie of the Week: Giles Deacon for Ann Summers 'Aphra' Hold ups

ann_summers_aphra_stockings

Though I have no idea who Giles Deacon is and though I don't have an Ann Summers anywhere near me, I've been keeping an eye out for the Giles Deacon for Ann Summers collection ever since I first glimpsed it on Vogue UK. I'm always intrigued when a mainstream fashion designer collaborates with a lingerie company; the opportunity to see something altogether new and exciting is one I can't resist. While there were a few pieces that stuck out to me (like that amazing satin skirt at the beginning of the Vogue), the item I'd say I'm most interested in is the feather detail 'Aphra' hold ups.

Many of you know that I began as a stockings blogger, but what you may not know is that Falke's classic, peacock welt hold-ups were my first ever blog post. In some ways, these Aphra stockings almost feel like a flashback to the past... a harkening to the beginnings of what would become TLA. And if that sounds a little sappy or overly nostalgic, well... the stockings are beautiful all on their own, right?

According to Ann Summers, the feathers are flocked onto the nylon (as oppposed to woven in) and feel a bit like velvet to the touch. As with all hold up stockings, these don't require a garter belt to stay up. Sizing is Small/Medium and Large/Extra Large fitting a maximum height of 5'9" and a maximum dress size of UK22 (US 18). This hosiery retails for £18.00, which works out to roughly $30 US.

What do you think of these stockings? Would they have a place in your wardrobe?
