Trend Alert: Starry, Celestial-Inspired Lingerie
I don't know if you've heard, but astrology has apparently taken over the internet, and it's all star charts, all the time.
Even for those of us who don't know the first about astrology and lean a bit more towards astronomy (hi, that's me), the stars and other celestial bodies remain endlessly fascinating - familiar and incomprehensible all at the same time.
I remember staring up at the sky as a young woman, after I'd first truly grasped the concept of a light year, and realizing just how impossibly huge the universe is. In an era where we're all expected to be skeptics and cynics, unimpressed by anything, the stars still inspire a feeling of awe in me I can't get anywhere else. It's the definition of humbling.
The stars are also reassuring in their consistency, a sign that the universe (if maybe not life itself) does go on. There's something simultaneously freeing and frightening in knowing your existence is just the briefest speck in the tapestry of time. In realizing that, long after you're gone, you'll eventually become star stuff again. It helps to keep everything else in perspective.
Perhaps the global uncertainty facing the world is why so many designers have turned to cosmic motifs lately. From overtly astrological prints to stellar embroidery, these starry, celestial-inspired undergarments pass the endless serenity of the universe along to us.
