7 Indie Lingerie Brands for Valentine's Day Shopping
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and for some of you the holiday is a good excuse to buy some new lingerie! (Or maybe you are like me and you never need an excuse to buy something new and pretty!) Like you, I have my favorite go-to brands I love. However, I’m always looking for new inspiration as I grow my lingerie wardrobe or seek to provide unique recommendations to others.
As I may have shared previously, one of my favorite aspects of writing for TLA is being able to highlight amazing independent brands. The brands featured below I've discovered through my perusal of Etsy and my Instagram feed and searches. Both Etsy and Instagram are great places to find new designers. It is exciting for me to see how these platforms have allowed the lingerie industry to evolve and grow in new ways and have provided additional avenues for up and coming designers to share their work.
Here is a roundup of some of my recent finds. As you prepare to purchase something special for a romantic evening or a new sexy set just for you, I hope you find something new and unique to add to your collection. Don’t forget to share your favorites!
There is so very much I love about this set from Sojourn that's been making its way around Instagram! First, the vibrant magenta color is absolutely stunning. I imagine it being flattering on many skin tones. I also love that the bra accommodates up to an E cup. While not all full cup ladies will be able to indulge, a number of you will! I have yet to try the long line style myself, but I love how it invokes a glamour of yesteryear while remaining modern.
Kisskill is an Australian brand I discovered through searching lingerie boutiques on Instagram. I immediately fell in love with this lacy Cheyenne for Kisskill bodysuit - it's simple, yet sexy. Also available in white, I love how the front drapes, as well as the darling eyelash lace framing the legs. This versatile piece can be worn for a special occasion or an ordinary day.
Handmade by Elma
I’m absolutely in love with this gorgeous handmade set. It is absolutely exquisite! More beautiful eyelash lace to enjoy! Other Handmade by Elma pieces include rich satins, on trend colorways, and pretty patterns. Bespoke options available, too! This brand is a must follow on Instagram. Especially because of the “behind the seams” photos of the creative design process. Amazing!
Luva Huva is a great brand if you are looking for something relatively traditional or something ethically made. With bralettes, babydolls, and cami sets in a variety of colors and fabrics, this brand features handmade and environmentally-friendly pieces. I particularly love this rich burgundy. A great choice for someone looking for something in a not-so-typical red for Valentine’s Day.
Quite possibly one of my favorite newest finds is Tatu Couture. I’ve not seen anything like these ink inspired pieces before. The Carine Body bodysuit is simply elegant in the front, but a show stopper in the back! A winged tattoo inspired print covers the back and is only divided by the simple gold zipper. Incredible! Other pieces in the collection include knickers, slip dresses, and suspenders.
For Love and Lemons
I've been following For Love and Lemons on Instagram for a while. This Snapdragon bralette caught my attention when it was recently posted. Perhaps because it is making me itch for a tropical vacation! You can channel that Caribbean holiday by slipping into this pretty little thing.
I tend to cringe at anything too red, too pink, too typically "Valentine's Day," but for some reason I am swooning over this love cheeky, heart-adorned bralette! The strategically placed red hearts make quite a bold statement and it looks like it can be worn with the greatest of ease. Throw a bulky sweater over it and have your own little secret underneath.
Feu de Venus
A special shout out goes to For Love and Lemons for sharing a photo of a Feu de Venus set that sparked my following. (This is a great way to find new brands by the way!) There were so many intriguing looks, but this stunner is my favorite. The strappy harness look is a popular trend right now and I like that this bra forms the straps as two Xs. Double the kisses perhaps?
What do you think of these brands and styles? Have you tried or would you be interested in trying any of them?
I will note the biggest challenge I had in putting this compilation together was finding great plus and full bust options that were fashion forward and high quality. I believe they exist in this indie market, and I will keep searching. Are there any that you are a fan of that I should check out?
