Bra was provided for review by Full Beauty. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve loved Curvy Kate’s design aesthetic for ages, but I’ve always found their cups to be a bit shallow. I’m not the only one — various reviewers and bloggers over the past few years have regularly reported having to upsize in Curvy Kate bras or not being able to fit into their Tease Me line at all, despite being within the stated size range. Curvy Kate quietly redid their sizing earlier this year, so I was thrilled to have a chance to try out the revamped Princess bra in their gorgeous new Scarlet/Chili colorway.
Curvy Kate has been making clashing colorways work for a long time, but this one combines my favorite holiday colors in a way that is both beautiful and unexpected. The almost pumpkin orange ribbon details works with the two tone floral embroidery at the top of the cups and makes the bra feel festive but also wearable beyond December. The velvet dots make the whole thing feel extra luxurious while the sheer top panels add extra sex appeal. The end result is a bra that is festive, wearable and works as an everyday bra as well as a special occasion piece.
I asked for the bra in my standard size after hearing from others that the new bras were running closer to the sizing that other brands used. This bra fit in the same size that I wear in Elomi and the Panache Tango, which means it’s at least closer to where some other mainstream brands are. Even better, it fits! I still get a slightly more east/west look in Curvy Kate than I do in some other brands, but the redesigned bras are better than the older models at correcting this. The color is so pretty and it looks great under clothes, so I’ll get lots of wear out of it despite my minor east/west look issues. The straps are a great length once adjusted and it’s already held up to several wears/washes and a trip over the Thanksgiving holidays.
If you were one of the people who had given up on Curvy Kate due to their previously strange sizing, I highly recommend you give this brand another try. Curvy Kate hasn’t marked the revamped models, but the new colorways from A/W 2013 should all have the new sizing. The Tease Me/Tempt Me line is said to be getting new sizing in the spring, which I’m incredibly eager to try out. I’ve wanted to wear those bras forever and I know they ran at least two cup sizes small for lots of people. If you are on the high end of the Curvy Kate cup size range, you definitely shouldn’t miss trying out the new constructions. I’m so glad to see that this line now works for HH+ cup sizes and I’m eager to see even more changes in the spring.
