Does This Pearl Front Thong Shock You? My Encounter with Bracli Pearl Thongs

Fantasy Pearl Thong $74.99

Disclosure: I received this item free of charge for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

“Those pearls go WHERE?!” I thought.  I had come face to face with an eight foot poster of a panty-clad woman’s torso.  At first glance, the panty seemed like a pretty standard stretch lace affair, but at the same time I was struck with one of those vague what’s-wrong-with-this-picture senses that something was not exactly what it seemed.  Second glance.  Aaah, it is a pearl thong, a pearl FRONT thong.

I immediately dissolved in an inward shocked schoolgirlish giggle.  It was like seeing a car driving backward down the freeway or an executive wearing her bra outside her blouse.  Thongs, which not too long ago were considered scandalous, have become commonplace–even desexualized to the point of being classified as an outfit “solution” to prevent VPL.  But this image of a string dividing a lady’s front?  It seemed TOO sexy, and so unexpected I couldn’t look away.

It takes a lot to shock and intrigue a lingerie trade show regular.  But Bracli did it.

After some time sidling up to the poster and then examining the actual garment pictured, my surprise turned to awe.  I became enamored of this lacy, pearly panty.  I spent a long time considering it and asking myself how something so overtly sexual, with foreign, rigid components in THAT area could still seem elegant.  As a lingerie designer, I think a lot about what good taste is; how do you define something that is context-based, inchoate, emotional, and personal?  And how come classic looking components can sometimes coalesce into something tacky when misconstructed or misused (think red lipstick and decolletage at a funeral), while on the other hand a pearl front thong like this one from Bracli can flirt with scandal but ultimately land on the side of elegant good taste?

In this case it has to do with the fine quality of the materials as well as the whole brand concept, which together elevate each product to a higher realm of sensuality, mystery and luxury.  According to its US representative, Bracli exclusively uses pearls from Mallorca, Spain and Spanish-made lace (launching in 2014, lace from Calais, France, and limited edition fresh water pearls–ooh, bumpy!)

And what about the name?  It’s a creative word compounded of two Spanish ones: BRAga and CLItoris (underwear and clitoris).  According to its website, “Bracli is the result of combining intimate clothing with the subtle stimulation of the most sensitive parts of a woman’s body.”  Luis Alvarez, Bracli’s inventor who patented the design in 1996, writes, “However, there is a stimulus that is more important than just the physical, more intense than the soft rubbing of the pearls, which is that Bracli stimulates the imagination and invites you to imagine. It is an invitation that is extended not only to the woman who wears Bracli, but also to whoever wants to share this experience as an accomplice, as a confidant… The excitement is contagious to all who participate in this pleasureful experience.”

My own participation in this pleasureful experience began when a Bracli Body Pearl Thong ($84) arrived in the mail.  The glossy scented black box hinted at sensual delights contained inside, and beckoned irresistibly for me to open it and try it on immediately.  I can’t remember the last time I was so excited to try on lingerie.  I felt like I was entering mini-outer space, thrilled to be experimenting in a new realm and maybe a little nervous about the physical sensation that might accompany it.  Even in my fugly home glasses and linty socks, I felt totally transformed.

I think the most important job of lingerie is to make its wearer FEEL sexy, followed secondarily by helping her look sexy.  Bracli is incredible because not only does the novelty of it delight its wearer into imagining herself differently in it, but also, physically, Bracli thongs do not let her forget she’s wearing it.  Some thongs are sexy; Bracli is sex.

Bracli Body Pearl Thong $84.99

Okay, so we know I’m a fan, but I would be remiss in this review if I didn’t mention a few things about Bracli that I think have great potential for improvement.  My bodysuit fit perfectly from the hips down, but the placement of the stretch lace straps caused gapping at the waist on me as it does on the model in the photo.  It might be a more flattering garment if the points of connection between the straps and panty portion were adjusted–though I’ll also add that “flattery” is not the main concern of this garment, and any eyes on a woman wearing it would probably not be bothered by this fit issue.

If one were wearing a thong instead of the Bodysuit, this fit problem would be a nonissue.  Bracli’s strength, I think, is in its mastery of the pearl thong, which can be bought individually in several styles and colors or with a matching bra.  I did not try any bras on, but the cuts and fits of these appear in photos not necessarily the strength of the collection.   In the future, I would love to see a broader range of silhouettes from this brand, since it has so much power and appeal.

Classic Bra and Thong Set $134.99

There’s also a menswear section!  I would love to hear your thoughts on Bracli’s pearl thong — are you as excited as I am about this innovation?  Would you wear it?  What do you think of it on a man?  For more information, visit www.bracli.us

Date Night Lingerie: What To Wear On Valentine’s Eve

The year’s biggest date night is almost upon us and if you are one of the many millions of people fretting over the details then you are not alone. Each year many of us face the usual questions: Who will be my Valentine? What will we do to celebrate? What should I wear? And my most frequently asked question: What underwear will I wear?

It can often be a very thoughtful process choosing your lingerie selection for this special evening. Depending on whom you are seeing, what stage you are at in your relationship & where your (and their) tastes lie, you may find yourself with a lingerie quagmire on your hands. While you want to make sure you feel your most confident & comfortable, you also will want to look the part, portraying the image that you believe most adequately represents your personality while illustrating the appropriate kind of message to your partner.

If you have the date & location set but are just stressing over the finishing touches on your ensemble then continue reading for some suggestions on what to wear underneath it all. To be clear, these are not dating tips or suggestions that will work for everyone. All relationships are different & move at their own unique speeds. These ideas are only meant to inspire you to find what works best for you & your needs.

Hanky Panky, Elle Macpherson & Honeydew Intimates

The Blind Date
Scenario: You have never met in person before, set up by a mutual acquaintance or an online dating web service.
Concern: Who knows if you will be compatible or even have any kind of mutual attraction?
Lingerie Solution: Stick with something comfortable yet stylish. Chances are you will not be revealing them tonight so comfort is key. Choose pieces in soft fabrics that don’t pinch, pull or poke. But a little fashion detail can go a long way, helping to give you that extra bit of confidence knowing that you still look great under your clothes.
Suggestion: I recommend comfy basics in soft fibers like cotton or modal blends. A touch of lace or a cheeky print will pump up the flirt factor while still remaining no-fuss & relaxed. Try separates from Hanky Panky, Elle Macpherson or Honeydew Intimates like the ones shown here.
Hotness Factor: Lukewarm

Spanx, Bali & Fruit Of The Loom

The First Date
Scenario: You have met each other before and are interested. Now it’s time to see how compatible you are together.
Concern: The attraction is there but if all goes well tonight you don’t want to spoil the potential for future dates by getting too intimate too fast.
Lingerie Solution: It may be a good idea to wear something unflattering to help curb any desire you may have to get physical throughout the night. If alcohol is involved it can often cloud our judgment & lead to decisions we wouldn’t usually make. So arm yourself with some granny panties or full coverage, figure-concealing basics to ensure you’ll avoid doing something you may regret.
Suggestion: Steer clear of anything sexy or fashionable so you won’t be tempted to give in to your desires so early in the game. How about a pair of cotton floral print briefs and a basic nude bra? Spanx, Bali & Fruit Of The Loom have all got you covered in this category.
Hotness Factor: Arctic

Myla, B.Tempt’d & Claudette

The “Tonight’s The Night” Date
Scenario: You have gone out a few times and things are looking good. You are ready to move on to the next base and now is the time many dates begin to really heat up.
Concern: You’ve built up an attraction to this person & don’t want to ruin the mood. When the time comes you plan on being fully prepared & ready to go!
Lingerie Solution: This is the best time to break out your favorite lingerie. A matching set is always a winner in a seductive fabric that will make you feel sexy and confident. It may be too soon to show off some of the kinky stuff so pick something pretty & stylish that flatters your curves and makes you feel like a million bucks.
Suggestion: Try a coordinating set in sumptuous satin or delicate lace. Keep it sophisticated in black, neutrals, reds or pinks or get playful in hot prints like wild leopard or flirty polka dots. Pieces from Myla, B.Tempt’d & Claudette are sure to make this night a memorable one for you both.
Hotness Factor: Hot

Maison Close, Hopeless Lingerie & Atsuko Kudo

The Committed Partner Date
Scenario: Congratulations the two of you have been in a relationship for a while now and things are going well! Now that you are familiar with one another it’s time to get a little more playful in the bedroom and focus on each other’s most intimate fantasies.
Concern: A full understanding of your partner’s wants and desires will allow you to cater to both of your specific needs. Since you have been together for some time you can spend less time worrying about what your partner may think and focus on pushing the envelope a little further.
Lingerie Solution: It’s time to get daring. Always wondered about crotchless panties? Intrigued by bondage? Whatever your usual go-to lingerie style, try switching it up with a completely contradictory look for an unexpected surprise that your partner will not forget.
Suggestion: Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone here. Something bold & salacious from Maison Close, Hopeless Lingerie or Atsuko Kudo may elicit a blush or two initially but will be well worth it in the end.
Hotness Factor: Scorching

3 Wishes, Trashy Lingerie & Victoria’s Secret

The Long Term Date
Scenario: You have been together for a long while now and this is not your first Valentine’s Day together.
Concern: It may be time to spice things up a little. By now you know each other inside and out, including all of your quirks & eccentricities. You may be married or have a family but want to ensure to keep the spark aflame after all this time together.
Lingerie Solution: It may be time to pull out all the stops and try something really unconventional. This is a great occasion to experiment with role-playing & acting out your wildest fantasies. A sexy nurse is always sure to rouse heartbeats while a sexy chambermaid knows her way around the bedroom. Whatever fantasy you choose for you & your partner, make sure to have fun with it and only take it as far as you feel comfortable with.
Suggestion: Sexy, themed costumes from 3 Wishes, Trashy Lingerie & Victoria’s Secret are sure to get things heating up quickly.
Hotness Factor: Sizzling

Mary Green, Marika Vera & Oscar De La Renta

The Self Love Date
Scenario: Being dateless on Valentine’s Day is nothing to scoff at! Nearly 50% of the American population is single & what better time to get in touch with your emotions and practice self-appreciation?
Concern: Not having a date on Valentine’s Day does not mean a night of loneliness and self-pity. There are plenty of ways to celebrate this time and treat yourself to an indulgent date night of your own.
Lingerie Solution: Why not wear your favorite, most sensual lingerie today just for yourself? Indulge in a bottle of wine, some chocolates and major pampering for a night that is all about you. Pieces that feel luxurious to the touch are a great way to help you feel sensual & extravagant.
Suggestion: Choose soft & silky styles that hug you in all the right places on this romantic holiday. Mary Green, Marika Vera & Oscar De La Renta are just a few luxury brands that will have you feeling pretty & pampered in no time.
Hotness Factor: Hot

What will you be wearing this Valentines Day? How will you celebrate this year?

DIY Costuming: 8 Last Minute Lingerie Halloween Costume Ideas

What Katie Did

It’s a common scenario each October: Halloween is suddenly around the corner and you’re looking forward to partaking in some spirited festivities. However you haven’t given much thought to what costume you’ll be wearing and time is running out! Sound familiar?

You can always scavenge the local Halloween shops for an overpriced, sexed up costume that you’ll only wear once, or you can resort to fishing out last year’s ensemble & hope that no one will remember it. But wouldn’t you rather whip up something easy & unique? Sometimes the most economical solution is lying in your wardrobe right now just begging to be discovered.

A little imagination & a bit of creativity is all you need to create your own do-it-yourself Halloween costume when timing is tight. Since many of you are lingerie addicts such as myself, I imagine you have a plethora of unmentionables just begging to see the light of day. And while incorporating lingerie into a costume sounds risqué or salacious, there are many ways to tone down the sex appeal so the focus is on your originality rather then the intimate apparel.

Las Vegas International Lingerie Show: Sexy Lingerie for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and S/S 2013

Coquette

A few weeks ago, I attended, for only the second time ever, the Las Vegas International Lingerie Show. One of the reasons I enjoy attending the Las Vegas show is because it offers such a radically different perspective on lingerie in comparision to the East Coast shows.

From a customer’s point of view, the lingerie shown at ILS has an emphasis on accessibility -  in terms of size, price point, and the likelihood that a store near you is carrying these items. In addition, many of the brands which exhibit ILS (like Leg Avenue and Shirley of Hollywood) are names I tried I myself when I was brand new to lingerie.

Unlike the Spring/Summer Las Vegas Lingerie show, which is all about Halloween, the Fall/Winter show focuses on the Holidays and Valentine’s Day. Though the turnout was smaller than I anticipated (who knew Halloween beat out Valentine’s Day for the lingerie crowd?), I have to say I preferred the seasonal ranges I saw this last month over the ranges I saw earlier this year. Vivid jewel tones, sequins, and lace are all so pretty to me.

As far as other influences, there is still definitely still a burlesque vibe at ILS, though more Pussycat Dolls than Dita von Teese. Pasties are still very popular, as are ruffled panties, bustiers and garter dresses. Almost every brand is making at least one corset (which I’m loosely defining here as a garment with a front metal busk and a lace-up back), but I don’t know much about the quality. And finally, it was nice to see some independent designers at the show, including TLA columnist Laura of Lola Haze, who’s new diffusion line I’ll be featuring here next week.

With that said, here are a few of my standout favorites from the show. What do you think of the items below?

6 Supportive Bedroom Lingerie Pieces for D to K Cup Women

Image via Bravissimo

Ever bought a cute piece of lingerie for a special occasion only to find yourself with your breasts falling out the bottom, top, and sides? Yeah, me too. What’s a full busted girl supposed to do for a special occasion or a fun night in?

While the full busted bra market is growing rapidly, markets for full busted items like special occasion lingerie and sports bras aren’t quite keeping up. Luckily, several brands and retailers are leading the charge and carrying some items that are supportive and sexy.

Maggie Babydoll with Underwire by Elomi:

Image via Bare Necessities

The plunge neckline and details on the bustline make this new babydoll from Elomi into the little black dress of full busted lingerie. It’s a supportive basic while still retaining a classic and flattering look. I love that Elomi is offering fuller briefs as the matching option — some of us still aren’t sure how we feel about sheer lingerie with thongs underneath.  This babydoll comes in band sizes 36 though 42 and in cup sizes FF through GG.

Lace and Silk Front-tie Drawstring Bustier Cami by Bijte:

Image via Bijte

Bijte is an independent designer out of New York City who is making classic lingerie pieces for full busted women. Her pieces are made out of stretch silk and stretch lace. I love her classic European look, which is different from anything else on the full bust market right now. Her pieces work for up to a J cup currently, and she offers everything from this unique bustier cami to more traditional babydolls. I own this set and wear it every chance I get. Support is created magically through adjustable straps and cinched ties that manipulate supportive hidden ruching. It sounds crazy, but it really works.

Angelina Babydoll with Removable Garter Straps by Parfait by Affinitas:

I’m a sucker for any kind of lingerie with polka dots, so this new babydoll from Parfait by Affinitas immediately got my attention. I love the added garter straps and eye catching embroidered details. This babydoll comes in band sizes 30 through 40 and cup sizes E through G, which means that it works for a wide number of women.

Lola Luxe Basque by Bravissimo:

Image via Bravissimo

I just had one of the best international shopping experiences of my life with Bravissimo, so now I’m looking for pieces to go back for. This basque is at the top of my list. It’s one of the only basques offered up to a K cup on the market. I preferred the black and teal version from last season, but lots of women are going to find this basic black set to be the answer to their lingerie dreams.

Two Figs Sleepwear:

Image via BraSmyth

Sometimes you want a less sheer lingerie option, which is where Two Figs Sleepwear comes in. They make a small line of high quality halter top, triangle, and built in support nightgowns. They may look plain, but they all have sexy lace cut out details and drape effortlessly over your curves. They’re practically elegant enough to leave the house in.

Ooh La La Corsetlette by Gossard:

Image via Bravissimo

This drop dead gorgeous corsetlette from Gossard does retro the right way. It looks lovely in black, sexy yet bridal in white, and I’ve seen that a new red version is coming out as well! Either way, if you’re in Gossard’s size range this piece is worth picking up before it flies off the shelves. This corsetlette comes in 30 through 38 band sizes and D through G cup sizes.

What’s your favorite piece of sexy large cup lingerie? Have you tried any of the pieces on this list?

9 Sexy (and STRONG) Halloween Costume Ideas

Peacock Mask by Tutu Gorgeous Girl

It’s that time again: the spookiest, sexiest, sugariest night of the year is almost upon us!

Halloween is THE BEST holiday.  When else do we get a chance to bodily inhabit any fantasy we can dream up?  AND have fun with friends and family? AND eat candy? It’s distinct from other major American holidays because (at least in the way it’s celebrated in modern times) it’s inclusive; you don’t need to be a particular religion, nationality, gender, age, or to have a family or partner to enjoy the best things about it. True, it’s origin may have been a little different, but I’ll leave that tale to an historian instead of a lingerie designer.

It’s a night of lighthearted fun – of surprise, delight, hijinks and gorging on candy.  But it’s also a night to think, at least a little, about how we women own and don’t own our bodies and our sexuality in day-to-day culture and life – and how we can choose to shake up our body identities for one night.  On Halloween, even if we are not consciously engaging in debates about gender politics, or necessarily making our choices based on philosophy, all of us who dress up are faced on some level with the woman-specific question: to slut or not to slut.

Milanoo Halloween Makeup

When did Halloween become such a flesh fest?  According to a Slate article, the 1970′s.

Ever since the Victorians started gallivanting around at costume balls in the 19th Century, the holiday has been a costume event for children and adults.  But it wasn’t until New York City’s gay men threw the first big, fun, drag-filled Halloween parade in 1973 that the modern risque version of the holiday was born.  Now, THAT’S an origin story I love to tell.

Retailers of course soon realized the commercial opportunity, and now, forty years later, any nice suburban lady need only Google “sexy nurse costume” to have forty busty, garter-belted options to buy.

Every year on Halloween I look around the streets of New York City, and I think, “A leotard and spike heels is not a costume!…And neither are boobs!  Boobs are not a costume!“  I have mixed feelings about these women who choose to wear their sexuality AS their disguise for the night.  I equally question our culture that seems to encourage us into the Madonna/whore dichotomy of womanhood–so that we feel pressure to be buttoned up all year and then overflow in this one-night-only explosion of cleavage and fishnets.

Actually, scratch all this.  Maybe my main objection to these hypersexy interpretations of “Halloween costume” is not as a woman, but as a fashion designer.  Dressing up as “Sexy” instead of as [fill in the blank] is a giant missed sartorial opportunity on Halloween night. Why not be both?  Wear something that someone designed to look like SOMETHING other than sex.  Look sexy and strong, or sexy and funny, or sexy and unique…or be a sexy monster (see below)!

A lot of the costume business overlaps with the lingerie world.  It makes sense that lingerie companies design and manufacture costumes since they already have expertise in the construction of related silhouettes.  So I thought I would troll the world of sexy costumes to come up with some recommendations that are sexy and strong. (Eds. Note: Click the photos to be taken to the costumes directly.)

Who’s hotter than Wonder Woman!?  I would love the chance to inhabit a superhero’s superworld for the night.  Comfy microfiber fabric, plus the slimming effects of a corseted top, PLUS the shimmer factor that I can’t get enough of….this one is one of my faves.

Frederick’s of Hollywood Wonder Woman Costume

Continuing in the realm  of fantasy, here’s a cool anime-inspired costumes from Final Fantasy XIII:

If you don’t want to go the superhero route, but covet the power of flight and a big bad stinger, there’s a swarm of costume options.  I like the sequins and slim fit of this Bumblebee:

And some playful thigh-highs to match:

If you really want to impress the guys this Halloween, what could warm their hearts more than a hot girl in a Stormtrooper costume?

Finally, Halloween is the perfect opportunity for all you DIYers to practice your craft!  Here are some inspirational pictures and tips.

Nothing would inspire me more to strut my gorgeous self than this beautiful Peacock inspired tutu.  Carrie, who owns TutuGorgeousGirl on Etsy, has both girls’ and women’s sizes.  I would pair this tutu with a leotard and mask (see photo at top of article), and accent it all with some bright baubles.

This 5 piece Old West Outlaw getup is so authentic-looking and pretty.  It seems to tell a whole story.

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can find a lot of home sewing patterns for all kinds of cool costumes, from crayons to wenches. Two of my favorite pattern companies are Simplicity and Butterick.

I’m a fan of this steampunk pattern.  Making a boned bustier and structured bolero would be a great accomplishment this Halloween.

And if you want to remember the origins of Hallow’s Eve, try out this sexy, mini-skirted witch!

And most of all, have fun!

I would love to hear your thoughts about what “sexy” means on Halloween. Even after writing this article, I am stumped this year about what I should be.  Please help with tips, suggestions, and your own Halloween stories!

At a Snail’s Pace: Starting the Lingerie Brand ‘Karolina Laskowska’

The first lingerie set that I ever made, January 2011

Since I learned to sew in early 2011, I’ve turned into a bit of a lingerie making machine; the space under my bed is literally stuffed full with boxes of bras and knickers.  Those of you who’ve been following my antics will know that it all started in an attempt to get a place at De Montfort University for the Contour Fashion degree – a course that specialises in lingerie design and, quite frankly, my dream degree.

My first foray into lingerie (handsewn!)

I’ve always enjoyed making things – my mother used to joke that I was a ‘factory’.  Once the lingerie obsession took hold, it was pretty much inevitable that I’d be chaining myself to the sewing machine.  What made this obsession different to my previous ones, though (take greeting cards and candles as an example), was that it gave me a step into the fashion world.  People started to notice the creations that I shared online – or, more relevantly, photographers started to notice them.  They liked what I was doing and soon enough I was collaborating with people whose work I’d previously only admired from afar, well before I’d even started my degree.

Padded silk chiffon bra with freshwater pearls.  Model is Sundal, photographed by Simon Crinks

It may be strange to admit, but seeing such gorgeous and professional photos of my designs gave me a sense of confidence and almost validated my decision to study lingerie.  It also meant that more people saw my work  – soon enough I was seeing my work reblogged all over the place and people contacting me to make things for them.  The idea of starting my own ‘brand’ began to play on my mind…

Yet it was an event at the beginning of this Summer that really made my mind up.  I’d been told repeatedly by all sorts off people in the industry that starting a brand was a terrible idea, that there was no money in it, that my ideas weren’t original… Yet one day I received an email from a certain boutique asking if I did wholesale.

The pentagram thong playsuit and frame bra, two of the items requested for wholesale.  Model is Miss Miranda, photography by Anna Swiczeniuk.

When I first read it, I wasn’t too hopeful.  I’d had enquiries before but they’d all fallen through.  After all, I wasn’t a proper ‘brand’. I didn’t have anything established. As far as I was concerned, I was just a girl on the internet who occasionally posted photos with some knickers that she’d made.  Yet, as it turned out, this was a serious enquiry – I began to consider it, and a burst of unseasonal confidence made me agree to it – styles and quantities were discussed, and before I knew it, I’d given a delivery date and had a deposit in my bank account.

Then the realisation hit me that I was responsible for making 26 garments to retail standard.  As did the realisation that I was responsible for all of the small things that come with clothing in retail – labels, tags, packaging… All of a sudden it seemed like a mountain of work.  I didn’t have time to hang around.

Straight away, I set about buying materials, designing labels and ordering samples. And then I set about the real hard work – grading my samples into different sizes and making sure that they fit. My poor friends had to suffer my incessant requests to cover them in elastic straps, all in a bid to make sure that garments actually looked good on the body!  Eventually, I’d got everything into a state that I was happy with – lingerie that I’d want to own.

Copious amounts of components and elastic

And so, production began. For several weeks, I confined myself to my room.  I got through literally hundreds of metres of elastic and endless amounts of gold rings and sliders.  I seemed to have a panic attack nearly every day (the worst being when I thought my sewing machine had broken, with just one week to go), yet eventually, I managed to get everything sewn.

Pentagram thongs, packaged up with instructions attached

Soon enough, I was labelling everything and packing it up in plastic bags, ready for shipping.  It was quite a surreal experience, seeing everything packaged up and actually looking professional.  As if these garments actually belonged in a shop.  Before I knew it, I was handing a big box full of knickers over to a FedEx man, ready to be shipped to a boutique far, far away.

Packaged frame bras

I spent the next few days worrying – what if they didn’t like what I’d made?  What if it was all a big mistake?  Luckily, my worrying was all assuaged soon enough. I received a lovely email from the retailer, and soon enough I realised – if my designs are considered good enough for an actual shop, they’re good enough for the rest of the world too. Starting my own brand – the dream I’d had for a while but was always a bit too scared to pursue – was actually happening.

My ready-to-wear range of lingerie

So what can you expect from my brand? Well, that’s a question I’ve been puzzling over myself, and one that I still haven’t thought of a proper answer to! I’ve ended up deciding to have three different ‘ranges’ of products – with the main theme running through them being that it’s lingerie that I’d like to own myself.

Some of the kimono silks that I can’t wait to start working with

The first is my ‘ready-to-wear’ range which is based around my most popular designs – strappy frame bras and my pentagram playsuit.  The second is the ‘limited edition’ range – this will contain the one-off designs that I get most excited about, using rare and luxurious fabrics and embellishment.  My current plan is to use my recently acquired vintage kimono silks – each piece will be truly unique as I only have so much of each fabric!  I’m also dreaming of one day getting my hands on some couture lace and pairing them with some of my more bondage-inspired influences…

An example of a one-off design

Finally, I want to give my customers of having something truly unique, made just for them – bespoke lingerie sets.  Bespoke lingerie is something that I can get incredibly excited and passionate about – there’s something so satisfying creating something for an individual, knowing it’s going to something truly special for them.  The experiences I’ve had so far with people approaching me for bespoke lingerie have all been wonderful, and I want more people to know it’s a service that’s available instead of just being scared to ask!

I’ve finally got round to making my own website, finally giving people a chance to buy my garments and to showcase my work so far – from my one-off designs to all the lingerie and fashion photoshoots I’ve been lucky enough to participate in.  Everything that I’m doing is still at an incredibly small scale – after all, I’m only just about to go into my second year of university.  I know with all the work that I’ll have to do in the forthcoming year means that I simply won’t have time to expand things, on top of which there’s no way I’d be able to get the money together to have things manufactured in a factory!  Yet I’d still like to think that I’ve made my first small step into joining the lingerie industry.  I know it’s not something that I’ll be able to pursue at any serious business level until I’ve finished my studies, but until then, it’s a good feeling to know that people genuinely want to buy my lingerie and admire my work!

As a thank you to all of the readers who’ve been following my work, I’d like to offer a 15% discount code for my shop on all individual items!  Code: lingerie-love (expires on 09-12-12, not valid on sets or bespoke orders).

Readers:  What do you think of my foray into becoming a lingerie brand?  Are my designs something that you’d like to own yourself?
