Independent Fashion Bloggers Links a La Mode–10/30/10

Thank you to Independent Fashion Bloggers for featuring Solanah’s guest post on vintage lingerie in this week’s Links à la Mode.  It definitely deserves a few more views.

Also, kudos to OK,  Bowtie whose article about why women should wear pretty lingerie everyday is also featured (both in this week’s IFB links and in my own lingerie round-up from yesterday).  Enjoy!  :)

Costume Drama: A Break From All Things Outfit

Edited by: Holier than Now

It’s  the Halloween season, when some of us choose to experience the thrill  (or horror) of looking nothing like ourselves for a night. For those of  you who blog or socially post your outfits, perhaps it’s a chance to  take a break from the judgmental eye of the spotlight (consider Love Brown Sugar and One More‘s  pieces on the subject) – one night where you turn in “looking good” for  looking scary, time period-accurate, or just … a little sexier than  usual. Inspired? Find last minute costume inspiration from Tickle Me Chic and more.

And  for those of us who don’t celebrate the witching hour, there’s still a  chance to step away from the closet and remind ourselves that great lingerie, shoes, bags, and jewels can make even a white tee and jeans look scary good.

Influences, Impressions, and Interpretations of Fashion and what it all means

Edited by: Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista
It  is without a doubt that fashion makes the world go round. Just last  week, Fashion’s Night Out helped revive the economy, fashion week’s  across the world bring together old friends, new friends, and those in  between. Technology fused with fashion now offers inside perspectives-  once only exclusively shared. Adding to this breath of fashion are those  who blog.
This  week’s roundup offers a retrospect of fashion as New York Fashion Week  comes to a close, designers have teased us with what’s to come, and the  world comes back to life- the fashion blogger’s mind only now begins to  race with influences, impressions, and interpretations of Fall Fashion  and what it all means…

    • Amanda Lee Dot Org: How to Make High Heels Bearable
    • Denim Debutante: Wearing White AFTER Labor Day
    • Dirty Hems: Fashion is a Tramp: the cyclical nature of cultural appropriation in  fashion, particularly pertaining to the homeless & “hobo-chic”

Independent Fashion Bloggers–Links à la Mode

This is the very first time (I know, I know…I’ve been having a lot of firsts lately!) The Lingerie Addict has  been featured in Independent Fashion Bloggers’ weekly Links à la Mode feature, and I’m really excited to share this honor with a great group of other fabulously talented fashion bloggers.  Thanks IFB!

P.S. The corset Scarlett Johanssen is wearing below is several different kinds of awesome.  I need to find out who made that.  Maybe Dolce & Gabbana?

The End of Summer? No! The Beginning of Awesome!

Edited by: Thom of The Sunday Best

For the past week I’ve been listening to Cee-Lo Green’s fantastic send-off, F@#* You,  and little else. At the same time I’ve been reading a lot of the  hand-wringing in the press about bloggers and whatever are we going to  do about them, along with our responses both here and on our blogs. And  the two have combined in my head to form a single determination -  bloggers need more swagger. I don’t mean anger, of the  you-don’t-respect-us variety, or apologetics, of the  we-are-as-legitimate-as-other-media variety. I mean swagger, the kind of  swagger that comes from doing something well and knowing you’re good at  it. So whatever other themes might knit together this week’s links,  they all share that important characteristic – swagger. Step up to the  plate, knock it out of the park.
