The Look for Less: Agent Provocateur "Whip Me" Stockings

In the left corner we have Agent Provocateur’s gorgeous and exclusive Whip Me Stockings.  Selling for $70.00, these stockings have the words “Whip Me…Bite Me…Eat Me…Tease Me” in place of the traditional backseam.

In the right corner, we have the luxury-inspired but budget-friendly ASOS version. Retailing at $17.93, these Love backseam tights have all the class of the more expensive version but for considerably less cash.

What do you think, fellow addicts, are these sexy stockings a purchase…or pass?

Lingerie Addict Exclusive: La Perla Miss Studio Collection

A few months ago, before my subscription to Lucky Magazine expired, I ran across some very exciting news.  La Perla, the famous luxury lingerie brand, was preparing to release a brand new, lower priced line especially for women 20-30 years old.  And they were calling it the La Perla Miss Studio Collection.

Instead of paying upwards of $150 for a panty and $250 for a bra, the new line starts at $37 for briefs and $65 for bras.  Now everybody can own a little bit of La Perla.  But before you worry that La Perla is becoming too accessible, the new collection will only be available in two stores: brick-and-mortar Bloomingdale’s and e-tailer Bare Necessities.

I thought my readers might like a super-exclusive sneak peek (you can’t buy this lingerie until the end of this month…at the earliest!) so I asked Bare Necessities for a few select press images.  These photos were only released to The Lingerie Addict, and they’re so fresh that Bare Necessities hadn’t even had time to find a live model yet.

Though we both know that you can only get the full effect of lingerie when you’re able to view and touch it in person, I’m very happy with the color, embroidery, and detailing I can see on the images below.  And while these pieces don’t have the same drama, weight, and glamour of the original line, La Perla’s new Miss Studio collection is fresh, wearable, and pretty.  Plus (and I’m sure this is what they had in mind all along), it’s a great way of introducing younger women to fine lingerie…and making them customers for life.

What do you think of La Perla’s Miss Studio Collection?  Please tell me in the comments!

The Look for Less: Bordelle vs. Frederick’s of Hollywood

On the left side, we’ve got Bordelle’s webbed suspender belt from their one of their very first collections back in 2009. Originally retailing at £89 (approximately $142), this is one of the pieces that put the UK brand on the luxury lingerie map.

On the right side, we have Frederick’s of Hollywood’s Runway Burlesque Chemise, an unabashed remake which retails at a somewhat more budget-friendly $38 (and offers a matching bra & g-string if you want to complete the look).

What do you think, fellow addicts?  Is this strappy, bondage-inspired garter belt a purchase…or pass?

Review: The Stylish Fox Fiore Opaque Tights

Summary: The Stylish Fox’s Giana and Malena opaque tights are one of the season’s best buys.  Made of super soft microfiber, these tights are warm, comfy, and incredibly affordable. 4 out of 4 stars.

Review: I know I’m stating the obvious here, but it’s cold. Just last week, Huffington Post reported that 49 out of 50 states had snow on the ground, and I’m sure you caught all the news reports of near total shutdowns in New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle (among other places).

If there’s anything us lingerie addicts need more of in our wardrobes right now, it’s tights.  Thick, warm, soft tights at reasonable prices so we can buy a half dozen pairs at a time (I’m not the only person who buys tights by the half dozen, am I?).  That’s why I’m so excited about introducing you to the new online boutique, The Stylish Fox…because in this kind of weather, there’s no such thing as too many tights.

The Stylish Fox was kind enough to send me a couple of pairs to test drive and it’s time to report back with my results. Just as a quick reminder if you want to take a look, I wore the Giana tights and the Malena tights, both by Fiore.

The first thing I want to say is that these tights are super durable.  I’ve worn and washed each pair three times (even machine washing once…bad, I know) and they still look and feel good as new.  And if you follow me on Twitter, you know I’ve been ripping my nylons a lot lately so durability is very important to me right now.

The second thing I want to say is that these tights are really warm, really soft, and really cute.  Warm, soft, and cute is pretty much the holy trinity of legwear, especially when it comes to opaque tights because they can sometimes be a bit ugly and uncomfortable.  I live in Seattle (which has crap weather nine months out of the year) and these tights kept my legs feeling good all day long.  Oh…and they fit true to size!  I tested a size 4 (which was my size on the size chart), and they fit perfectly.

The third thing I want to say is that these tights are a great deal. They feel like they should cost $20-24, but they actually cost $11 and $12.65, respectively.  I know that everyone has a different price comfort zone so that may seem expensive compared to some department store brands but trust me when I say it’s an excellent value for the money.  The quality of these tights is better than anything else at this price point.

I know that a good review is supposed to have one or two negatives because, after all, nothing is perfect.  But I’ve literally spent a couple of days now trying to think of something negative to say about these tights and I really can’t come up with anything.  They surpass all of my expectations.

The Stylish Fox is currently running a special where you get free shipping on orders of $50 or more.  If you have questions about any of the other products, you find them on Twitter @TheStylishFox.  Got some feedback about Fiore tights or this review? Tell me in the comments!

Disclosure: I received the item discussed above free of charge for review purposes only.  The retailer/manufacturer/designer did not influence this review in any way, shape, or form.  All opinions presented here are the authors own.

The Look for Less: La Perla vs. Frederick’s of Hollywood

In the left corner we’ve got La Perla’s feathered, g-string bodysuit from a few seasons back.  Sold through their online boutique and Net-a-Porter.com, this bodysuit originally retailed for $470.

In the right corner, we have Frederick’s of Hollywood’s newer, more budget friendly version.  Selling for less than a tenth of the price of the original, you can afford to pick up a couple at only $42 each.

What do you think, fellow addicts, is this feathered teddy a purchase…or pass?

The Look for Less: Alexander McQueen Lace Leggings

Confession time: today’s Lingerie Battle Royal is actually a last minute substitute.  I was going to write about the Agent Provocateur “Whip Me” Stockings and the ASOS “Love Seam” Tights…but between when I discovered the tights and when I decided to post them, they sold out.  Bummer.  Hopefully, ASOS will restock soon, and if they do, you can be sure I’ll let you know on my Facebook and Twitter.

In a way though, I’m kind of glad the ASOS tights sold out because today’s Look for Less feature is a pretty major fashion find.  ;)

In the left corner, we’ve got Alexander McQueen’s uber-rare, super limited edition lace leggings.  Retailing for the not-small sum of $107 at AlexanderMcQueen.com (and that’s the sale price!) these patchwork leggings are on their way to becoming collector’s items.  Undoubtedly, Alexander McQueen’s untimely death early last year has something to do with this as lace leggings were one of the last looks he featured.

In the right corner, we have Jonathan Aston’s Heavy Ornamental Net Leggings.  Jonathan Aston is actually one of my favorite hosiery brands, and that’s because he’s able to take high end, runway designs and translate them into affordable prices for the High Street buyer (to borrow a British phrase).  These leggings are more expensive than his usual offerings, they’re still a bargain compared to Alexander McQueen at only $51.72.

Now it’s time for you to decide dear readers.  Are these leggings a purchase…or pass?
