If I had to pick one type of bra to live in for the rest of my life, I’d pick plunge bras. The best plunge bras are special: they’re supportive, create great shape and work under nearly any piece of clothing in your wardrobe. In terms of style they can be plain, stunningly sexy or just represent a fun injection of color into your lingerie wardrobe. A great plunge bra can also be worn all year round, which gives you some serious wear for your money. All of these plunge bras are the sort that I’d add immediately to my wardrobe if I had unlimited funds. Each has a distinct style and comes from a brand that washes and wears well over time.

“Dahlia May” Plunge Bra by Forever Yours:
It’s the details that make Pleasure State bras truly special. This green plunge bra includes some amazing jacquard detailing along with a dash of sparkly crystals and beautiful floral embroidery. The keyhole cutout is just icing on the cake. This set would be perfect for a special occasion or just as an every day treat under your work clothes.

Daisy Chain Bra by Curvy Kate:
This bra has been around for several seasons and been well received by nearly everyone. Curvy Kate hasn’t always made plunge bras, but they’re clearly expanding their repertoire with this bra and the Dare Plunge. I love the pretty color of this bra along with the simple and fun embroidery. It’s a great choice for a cute summer bra with style.

Lois Bra by Fantasie:
My tastes tend to run towards the ultra feminine side of things, but I know everyone doesn’t feel the same way. For those looking for something stronger and more masculine, this menswear inspired pinstripe Lois bra is perfect. It’s well made with a great plunge cut that will work under lots of different necklines. The four part cup design also ensures great lift.

Wild At Heart Bra by Bravissimo:
Animal prints will be all the rage in the fall, but if you want to a get a head start on the trend there are options out there already. This Wild At Heart bra is a great example of animal print done in an unexpected way. The colors are fun and appropriate for warm weather, but the bra doesn’t feel overdone.

Queenie Bra by Tutti Rouge:
Tutti Rouge has made some changes as of last season which have rapidly elevated them into my list of favorite brands. This Queenie bra is a prime example of why. It’s fun and bold, but it’s still clearly a basic that can be worn on a regular basis. The polka dot mesh is eye-catching without being overwhelming and the color is appropriately fit for a queen. Their sizing now runs in line with most other brands, which means that if their bras didn’t work for you in the first season you should give them another try.

Deco Bra by Freya:
If there was a “bra of the summer” vote, I suspect the Deco would easily win. There are so many variations out there now it’s impossible to keep track of them all, but I honestly love this colorway. It’s fun, sort of kitschy and really practical for summer.

Do you live in plunge bras? Which ones are your favorites?

Hi Holly, do you happen to know of US stockists for Pleasure State? I’m dying to get my hands on a number of their Couture line sets!

I do love me a good plunge. Except for those that don’t have the cradle (i.e. little bit of fabric between the wires on the gore), those just don’t work. So glad all of the featured ones do have it! :)

The only plunge bras I have right now are Wacoal’s La Femme T shirt bra (117). I really like the cup shape and the band is very supportive. I’m interested in Curvy Kate and Panache, but I have not tried their plunges yet. I liked the look of the Zara, and the convertible part it increased my interest.

These look great. I may give them a try. I find that a lot of plunges don’t work for me, but these look like they provide a bit more coverage than the others I’ve tried. Great finds!

Gossard to a wonderful range of feminine and sexy plunge bras up to a G cup. Gem of a brand and plunge bras are their speciality!
