5 Sheer Plus Size Lingerie Pieces for Spring

I used to only buy structured lingerie, but in the past year or so I’ve fallen deeply in love with the wonders of sheer lingerie made out of soft materials like mesh. I think I didn’t like mesh lingerie for a long time because I started out badly: I bought several pieces that were cheap, weren’t well constructed and were really pretty blah. Great mesh lingerie has a softness and structure that helps gently sculpt your body in a cozy and comfortable way. That doesn’t mean it has to be expensive, though! Pieces on this list range from $30 to $120 and are all great introductions to sheer lingerie.
If you haven’t tried mesh lingerie yet for fear of feeling exposed, or just because it’s hard to find in your size, every piece on this list is a great place to start. The size range of these pieces covers in-betweenies to 3x.
1. Hanako Bodysuit by Erica M Legwear
Erica M has been making great stockings for awhile now, but they’ve just branched into bodysuits this season. I love this graphic yet sheer bodysuit that mimics the slimming lines of a corset. If you’re into the underwear as outerwear look, this piece will be a great addition to your wardrobe or lingerie drawer. It would look great under the right jacket layered with a beige or black bra.
2. Dessous Bra in True Blue by Claudette
It’s impossible to talk about sheer lingerie without mentioning Claudette these days. Their size range is great (from A through G cups) and they continue to put out fantastic new colors in their Dessous line. This true blue is one of my all time favorites. If you like structured lingerie, this bra is a great way to try out the sheer lingerie look without stepping too far outside your comfort zone.
3. Power Mesh Half Slip with Garters by Hips and Curves
You can never go wrong with a sexy half slip in a basic color. This piece is just vintage-inspired enough to make you feel like a screen siren, and modern enough to match with lots of bras you already own.
4. Zig Zag Mosh Playsuit by Dottie’s Delights
I own this playsuit in the regular version and it’s one of my favorite pieces of lingerie ever. It’s surprisingly supportive and I’ve heard that this Zig Zag version is even more so. If you’re looking for the ultimate piece of black mesh lingerie, look no further than this.
5. Floral Mesh Babydoll by Hips and Curves
My tolerance for florals goes way up as spring approaches, so it’s no surprise that I’m digging this floral babydoll currently. Hips and Curves always makes flattering plus size pieces and the price is fantastic.
