Being a lingerie designer, I hear a lot of personal information about love lives. TMI? No WAY! I love to hear from friends, customers, and strangers at bars what their favorite romantic practices are, and, even better, what they WISH for…
Here’s a common refrain I hear from men:
“I want to get her some lingerie that’s a gift for her as well as me. She only wears T shirts, and I would LOVE to see her in something sexier, but I don’t want to offend her buy buying something too suggestive.”
And a lot of women say pretty much the same thing:
“I like the idea of wearing sexy lingerie, but I’m too tired to bother, and I’d feel sort of embarrassed to try anyway.”
Well, there’s no time like Valentine’s Day to make wishes come true. A little lingerie, a little wine, and a spirit of….adventure will go a long way this February 14th. I’ve compiled some tips inspired by three classic seduction scenes from favorite movies to help guide your own romantic scenes. These are three very different, very feminine moves that worked for each of the leading ladies, and will blow your real-life man away as well. Watch the movie clips and smile.
Helping me out with both the man’s perspective and his wine expertise is Gregory Von Hess, wine educator and owner of YN Bar in Manhattan. Check out www.lolahaze.com in the coming weeks for lingerie and wine pairings that Gregory and I have curated to make your Valentine’s Day unforgettable.
INNOCENT STRIPTEASE, a la Jennifer Beals in “Flashdance”
Those big, innocent eyes belie the masterful seduction move going on. Jennifer is giving some sort of monologue about art while taking her bra off! As though he’s listening to a single thing she’s saying! When she invites him to close his eyes and “see the music,” he’s obviously just picturing her naked. Well played, girl…well played.
1) Sit facing but not touching him. Talk about something you feel passionate about, like dance or fine wine. Babble on for awhile.
2) As you’re talking, casually start taking off your own clothes. Maybe the bra, but maybe something else, like stockings or a blouse. It doesn’t matter WHAT you’re taking off, as long as your actions appear casual and innocent, and as long as you are touching your own skin with your fingers.
3) Invite him to close his eyes and sip the most innocent yet seductive wine….Pinot Noir. On the nose she is subtle, even unassuming, but in the mouth her true powers unfold and surprise.
4) Kiss that guy. He’s been waiting long enough. Under your dance outfit, wear the Cross Hipster by Lola Haze, which is pink and innocent, but sexily transparent, just like this move.

PRETEND YOU JUST MET, a la Agent J. Lo in “Out of Sight”
Maybe the steamiest scene of all time–and the most remarkable thing is that it stays PG. Yes, it helps that the players are Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney, but just because we may not have his eyes or her assets, it doesn’t mean we can’t have Hollywood chemistry.
1) Arrange to meet your playmate at a dark, romantic bar or your own living room.
2) Act surprised to see him when he sits down. Flirt with your eyes, quietly and knowingly. There’s no need for giggly girlishness; you’re packing heat, after all.
3) Sip a glass of Cabernet. She has a bold, voluptuous stature, and she always delivers on her promise.
4) Offer to share your glass with him when his runs out. Brush his fingers when you pass the glass.
5) When you’ve kept him waiting just a teeny bit too long, ask, “want to get out of here?”
6) Lead him to the bedroom. From across the room, slink out of your dress. Be wearing this sexy Embrace Teddy from Lola Haze. Smile.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS, THERE’S ALWAYS ENTRAPMENT, a la Mrs. Robinson in “The Graduate”
The experienced Mrs. Robinson knows how simple boys are. Just get them alone, feed them a drink, and the rest will take care of itself. Most important, deny all knowledge of the seduction scene you are plotting. In fact, when he asks, “Are you trying to seduce me??” laugh heartily.
1) Create a pretense for getting him home. Maybe you’re afraid of the dark. Maybe you’ve lost your keys and need him to climb in a window for you.
2) Since he’s there, offer him the thigh-high of drinks, Rose Champagne. She is a sophisticated tease who means two things: I’m yours and bottoms-up!
3) Tell him something deeply personal about yourself, something surprising, something you’ve overcome.
4) You are tired. Your dress zips up the back, so you need his help. Ask him matter of factly to come upstairs and help.
5) Mrs. Robinson wore slips and so should you. Under your dress, have this shimmery Whisper Slip from Lola Haze on.

Or create your own romantic seduction scenes this Valentine’s Day! Maybe even film it to immortalize your own movie scene. Dress cute, drink wine, have fun!

nice picks! those pieces of lingerie are really sexy, specailly that bodysuit
Thanks Ligeia! I think teddies and bodysuits are ALWAYS the right thing to have under my clothes…
I remember seeing the FLASHDANCE clip on THE TONIGHT SHOW — as I recall, it was Jennifer Beals’s first appearance. It was the clip that made me want to see the movie. And I remember that she told Johnny Carson that the bra-removing wasn’t in the script. The director happened to see Jennifer do the same maneuver when the cameras weren’t rolling, and he asked her, “Can you do that on camera?”
Wow! That story makes me love the scene even more — that J Beals brought that inspired skill to the script???? Amazing.
This is such a sexy and beautifully different post, pairing wines with lingerie, suggestive tips and classic movie scenes-I love every word of it!
Thanks so much Kayla!! It’s fun to pair sensual things, right?
Thanks- great post! As previous commentators noted it is well written and features great choices of movies and lingerie, not to mention “moves”.
I really like the Signature Whisper Slip and consider getting it. How long will you have it on sale? Also, can shoppers apply the discount code to other items on your site?
Thanks Annmarie! Yes the “valentines” discount code is good on all regular priced items, but only until Valentines day!! This is the first time we’ve offered a discount store-wide! You can email me at laura@lolahaze.com if you have any questions about styles, etc.

I love this! I definitely like the attachment of seduction to the type of lingerie one is wearing. Each piece of lingerie surely inspires a different mood, a different vixen, and this article feeds into that!
That’s right, Madame! That’s why I like to have on hand a whole RANGE of lingerie to suit my various vixens
Thanks for your comment.
