Costume Craze: 23 Picks for This Halloween

Every year as we celebrate the time honored tradition of living out our unreachable fantasies through costume (otherwise known as Halloween), I notice a greater abundance of provocative, revealing costumes that push the boundaries of holiday masquerade to questionable appropriateness. When companies are able to design our beloved Sesame Street characters into sexy, street walking versions of their muppet selves, you know it’s become a phenomenon!

However rather then denouncing the super sexy costume craze as I usually do each year, I have decided to embrace it for 2011. Why criticize those with the guts to wear these promiscuous uniforms? After all, today’s feminists are encouraging us to support our fellow sisters and help us to be proud of what we’ve got while promoting a positive self image. If you’ve got it, flaunt it. And if you don’t got it, who cares anyway? Just have fun with it!

With that said, there is a definite correlation between these super sexy Halloween costumes and the lingerie market. The lines are blurred between the two and many lingerie companies have begun selling their own versions of sexy fantasy to the masses. While they may not be the high end, quality designs that we lust after each season, they still manage to satisfy our needs on the one day each year when we are shamelessly encouraged to flaunt our sexuality.

The decision to choose classy over trashy will likely plague our generations for years to come but whichever you choose I hope you feel confident in your body and aim to denounce all judgments! After all it is only for 1 day of the year!
