I have always had a thing for the 40s.
Probably the Victorian age
18th century (this amazing dresses are totally my thing:)) or in a bit more modern times – 40s/50s. Nothing is more glamourous for me than seamed stockings:)
I would live in the gay nineties… that way I would be able to see the roaring 20's from a fun and mature point of view.
I would live some time in the future Treacle. In that way I could have missed all the dubious fashion looks of the 70's (yes, I am that old) and spend more of my time wearing the smashing intimate looks and labels we enjoy today :)
I am a retro gal for sure ~ I love the Victorian Era, however, the 40's, 50's and 60's are all fascinating to me, love the lingerie fashions!
I would definitely want to live in the present or the near future, because from here (or there) we can look at, recreate and wear all the fashions of the past, and still be in more comfortable times.

Hands down, today. I want to live in the now where there are hundreds of different styles to choose from. While it definitely wears a whole in my wallet, I love being able to dress like a flapper one day and a 50's pinup the next. Thank you Lingerie Addict for fueling my little obsession! :)

However much the 20's-60's makes me swoon, I'd much rather live in the present. We have so much more freedom and so many more options that I couldn't give it all up for the whimsy of a different time. The clothing makes me drool, but today we get to recreate or even FIND these pieces from the past so that's not even a worry. Also, when would I ever be able to wear a black push up bra, cuban heeled stockings, and 5 inch heels under a flirty little day dress and a cloche and not look weird or like a streetwalker?

Now is my favorite era for lingerie. You can wear sexy modern underthings that are comfortable and move with your body and you can find beautiful vintage lingerie or vintage styled lingerie made by reputable companies (like Dottie's) from almost any era in history!
You can really have it all and you have the freedom to choose what you wear under there ;)

My favorite fashion/lingerie era is definitely now. I can wear whatever I want, in whatever style I want, and do it because I want to and because it looks good on me, not because I have to or because I'm expected to. Also I have all of the previous era's to use for inspiration.

What is my favourite era for lingerie? I would have to say early fifties. Garter belts that were functional AND gorgeous, trosseaus, nylon replacing art silk stockings… The photos of Bettie Page are enough to convince anyone!

What's my favorite fashion or lingerie era? I would have to say the 1950's. There is something so utterly elegant about slipping into a wiggle dress that hits all your curves with a waist cincher, garter, and nylon stockings on underneath. Or being care free and happy in a swing skirt that twirls around your legs with every step you take. How could I not like the 1950's fashion? It's elegance mixed with seductiveness, the perfect combination.
i love now! that is total copout, because i don't have to choose. i love mixing my eras, or wearing one one day and another the next. anything victorian, edwardian, 1920's-early 1960's have long influenced my personal style.

I love the Victorian Era but a close second (and something not quite as constricting) is the 40's era.
I am a historical costumer and study and recreate clothing from eras spanning 1,000 years, but I have to say that I believe that the Edwardian era has the most grace and elegance for women. The S-curve corsets give a certain sort of sophistication, beauty, and poise that the corsets of earlier times (though I love them as well) seem to lack.
As for more "modern" lingerie, I'm a sucker for the 1950s. I'm obsessed with Dior's New Look!

The 1950s is by FAR the best lingerie and fashion era. I absolutely adore rolling on my stockings, snapping them to my garter belt, putting on a bullet bra and slipping on a wiggle dress or pencil skirt and blouse with some cute heels and red lipstick. It makes me feel a million bucks.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like the current era – people aren't as restricted by trends as they once were and can wear whatever suits them and their body shape. I also think that lingerie has never been more comfortable than it currently is, I couldn't stand being constricted in a corset or wearing itchy lace. Lol :)
