On Ruffles, Bows, and How They Make Lingerie (& Life!) a Whole Lot Better

A guest post from Adela of the lingerie blog Guilty Pleasures.

A pair of bloomer style shorts with gorgeous lace details that I recently purchased made me think about the way frilly lingerie makes you feel.  Whether you gained a few pounds or work-out consistently, most designs that make good use of little details like ruffles and bows will make you look amazingly seductive, while softening your features and giving a feel of playful glam to your curves.

Ever since I discovered frilly knickers and corsets (back in 2007 or 2008), I’ve been head over heels for ruffles splashes and snazzy little bows that make the difference between great lingerie and well, everything else. The devil is in the details. Take any casual pair of briefs or thongs and imagine them with an extra ruffle or bow adorning their trims.

Quite a different perspective, isn’t it? Parading a bit in front of your soul mate, or if you’re single, in front of the mirror, is going to change your mood for the rest of the day. As selfish as it may sound, the lingerie I wear has an important role in the way I feel for the day, so why not make the most of it?

Ruched slips make me swoon. Unfortunately, many of the brands I love are break-the-bank expensive, so I have to scoop and find just as gorgeous pieces for less. Victoria’s Secret’s cute yet sexy options are usually a good run for the money (especially now that everything’s on sale ) and, with the underwear as outerwear trend, it’s never too late to be a tad daring when you own a gorgeous looking slip.

Same goes for corsets and bustiers, where a well thought, fancy looking bow gives your daring look a unique sweetness that make hearts beat faster and heads turn.

A babydoll or teddy is a great addition to any lingerie drawer. Feminine and aerie with a hint of raunchiness, these are among my favorite lingerie pieces and an extra frill here or there turn them pretty irresistible.

On the other hand, nothing is as depressing as a pair of over adorned knickers with big bows, frills, embellishments and what not. Lingerie is always about cute and classy, never about clownish.

Let your imagination and playful sexy mood brighten up your lingerie drawer with some fun and flirty ruffled pieces or wicked bows that can’t wait to be untied. Your man will love the unexpected pop of naughtiness in the bedroom. Give frills a chance, will you?

No need to sacrifice quality, since somebody is always having a sale. I know lots of designer sales going on right now that are far from bank breaking prices. There's the ASOS Outlet (only $6 shipping)Agent Provocateur and Myla London -both up to 70% off. At 50% – 70% off check out Ayten Gasson and Fred & Ginger -psst stop by Knickersblog Bargain's page for an extra 15% off. And those are just a few.

I used examples from Victoria's Secret because I think it's a staple (not a high end one indeed) brand for many living in US.

But yeah, you're right, basically every boutique has some sort of sale going on now.

It's true: Victoria's Secret is the easiest go-to place for most of us. Especially in smaller cities. If anyone is looking to break out of the Vicki's box, my personal recommendation is Felina. I first bought a bra from them 5 years ago and was hooked. The bras I have from them are beautiful, makes ME look beautiful and hold up really well. Plus the price is comparable to Victoria's Secret and it has some beautiful, (tastefully)frilly stuff! (I'm currently loving the Uptown Girl: http://www.shop.com/p372331749-xinternalsearch-link_off.xhtml and the Tricia: http://www.shop.com/Felina+130577+Tricia+Satin+Contour+Demi+Bra-186555540-p+.xhtml)
