My partner's always had a hard time being open about problems. In the time we've been together he's worked on talking with me, worked on shedding the unconscious misogyny he picked up from his parents, worked on being open and not being afraid of change. Taking me out to dinner is easy – not giving up and being willing to see things the other's way when we're both exhausted and worn out from a fight is hard and takes more love than I can describe.

For my birthday my ex once has planned a trip to a place i wasn't supposed to know. We've agreed that i'd be wearing an ipod in the airport in order not to hear the announcements, an eyemask while on the plane, try not to look at the departure screens etc. We both knew the plan wasn't flawless but were both willing to make it happen.
On the evening before the departure he casually let the name of the city slip – that was really funny, he was genuinely upset. The city turned out to be Istanbul; and it was one of the best birthdays I've ever had.

The most romanatic thing that has happened to me is my boyfriend and I dont have alot of money so he did me a picnic and took me to the park. He then turned photographer, taking pictures of me, the best he printed up and put into a frame.

We don't celebrate Valentine's day, but I'm Irish and I had always wanted someone to send me a St. Patty's kissgram when we were in HS, a green carnation with Hershey's kisses and a note from an admirer. I never got one, but after telling him about, he remembered on St. Pat's and brought me home a dozen green carnations and kisses :) It was a good St. Patrick's day :)

On my last birthday my partner suprised me with a perfect and overly romantic evening; he wanted to take me for a walk (we lived downtown). We headed to movies and went to my favourite restaurant. The most romantic thing ever done for me was a valentines day gift from my last partner, who was an artist. We are both broke college students, so she printed out some song lyrics that reminded her of me. She illustrated each one, and tied them up in a big red ribbon, with a single lily (my favorite flower) in the bow. It wasnt a big, expensivegift, but all the effort, thought and love she put into it made it worth more than a store bought gift ever could.

Back when we were poor college kids my husband made me a valentines card out of magazine clippings. It was so sweet!
The most romantic things to me are the simplest things. When I first starting seeing my current boyfriend, it was summertime and nights were so long. We went for a long four-wheeler ride at night. We stopped in the middle of nowhere and kissed for a while. Then we spent the rest of our evening in the back of a pick-up truck, stargazing and watching the flickering fireflies. It was so simple, so down-to-earth, and a night I'll never forget. :)

In May we were strolling around Park City. I saw an large amazing nativity set in a shop window. I told my fiancee that was the loveliest nativity set I had ever seen. Well my most romantic thing, I made happen. We had dinner at the Contemporary Resort at Disney World, and watched the fireworks. We just stood there holding each other and watched the fireworks, while Disney music was piped in for us from the Magic Kingdom.

A former boyfriend once greeted me at the train station for a brief weekend at home with the words, "I know how much it means to you for us to spend time together so I took the day off." We only had one day together but we crammed that day full of all the "dates" we hadn't been able to take in the last month due to living and working in different cities.

I was going away on a 3-week work trip (it was the first time we would be apart for that long). He wrote me a little card to open up each and every morning while I was gone. Actually, I hope not to seem like I'm bragging, but my wife says that I am such a good husband all year round that I get Valentine's Day off. It seems strange to some but I think it is really nice to not have that pressure. We still spend all day together but don't have all of the pressure. It always works out great!

When we were first married and had our first daughter we had NO MONEY. Which meant rarely going on dates. One night my husband came home with some menus he made on the computer. He put on there silly things like APPETIZERS- KISSES

A couple Christmas' ago I was feeling very down. It just didn't feel like Christmas and I was sad because we couldn't have a tree put up in our home because we have 10 cats, 4 dogs and no room. I had little shoes on, light coat and a skirt. I was not looking forward to going out after work and cleaning off my care. While I was out of the country this past week for a friend's wedding (my boyfriend couldn't come due to work) Ray, my bf, completely redid our bedroom for Valentines day. When I got home it was a total surprise! New paint (in my favorite color), he built a bedframe and head board, made sure the bed was tall enough to fit my etsy supply bins underneath for extra storage. Put up tons of shelves, redid the closet. It was such an awesome and unexpected surprise. And now unlike before we want to hang out in our bedroom all the time!
My fiance (of almost 13 years!) had a personalised card made for birthday yesterday. It arrived in the post with a silly picture of me on the front and a funny caption. What I loved was that he wrote some very touching words inside, and that’s a side of him I don’t often see, especially after so many years together. I was taken aback, and this to me was very romantic.
