Today I’m reviewing the Satin Topped Sheer Thigh Highs by Victoria’s Secret; $14.00/pair (USD), 15 denier, nylon/spandex blend.

Despite the advertising, Victoria’s Secret hasn’t meant “sexy” to me in a very long time. Much of their lingerie just isn’t to my taste anymore. When I do like something, it inevitably feels overpriced for the quality (especially with so many indie brands now).

So why buy the stockings at all? Because I can’t afford to spend $50.00 on stockings, even if I love them. I’m in school, and the American dollar isn’t doing so great.

Victoria’s Secret also makes a lace pair, but I like the satin better.

However, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by these stockings. First of all, the matte satin band at the top feels and looks quite luxurious for the price. Second, I found the single wide, stretchy silicone band inside the welt to be much more comfortable than the traditional two or three narrow bands. Third, the stocking itself stretches easily and seems fairly durable.

I wouldn’t recommend these stockings for a special occasion or a dressy evening out. Though they look nice, I’m not sure they look expensive. In addition, the nylon/spandex blend doesn’t feel quite as pleasant on the leg as a higher-end pair of thigh highs. But for budget hosiery that won’t make you filled with regret if they happen to snag, these work just fine.

Have you tried Victoria’s Secret’s stockings?
